Apacies 0.81


Another 0.X1 release that comes with mostly graphical changes. Using the money you guys have provided this project, I was able to commission some artists, I did make a post about this, but this release bears that fruit!

In this update we have:

New buildings in every town! Some towns had to be reworked to fit the more detailed and wider sprites, but each town looks a little nicer now thanks to the variation.

New Apacies added to the roster. Like the buildings I have posted about this previously, but I edited a few of their sprites more to my liking and with the new additions we are up to 49 creatures! (I plan to have 100 so we're basically 1/2 way there!)

Nature rework. I have decided to change the term nature to personality, and instead to having each species have a set amount of personalities, each creature can spawn with 1 of the 49 different personalities! For example: Imaginative, Jealous, Charming, Stubborn, Foolish, and Nervous.

There is a new fighting background. This exact sprite probably wont feature in the final game, but I love the colors associated with it and thought it would be a good change of pace. Eventually I'll make a changing background script (possibly next update) so things aren't so repetitive.

Most Routes have grown trees.. It's not the only detail they will get, but it's added detail in the plain routes we had up until this point. Some trees still need colliders, but other will remain "walk through" as they are pretty small.

Lastly a bug fix that has been needed for awhile, Only 3 wild Apacies can battle at a time. There have been releases where you could conceivably battle 10+ Apacies with 1 of your own creatures; most of the time you would be wiped out before you had a turn. Now, if you are confronted with 4+ Apacies only 3 will join the battle at a time.

Next Update will be more feature driven.

I have been testing out some traps and bait for the overworld apacies but haven't been able to nail that yet, hopefully it will come out next update

I'll look into multiple personalities as both a way to make each creature more unique, and to vary game-play upon replay.

Updated graphics for the over-world sprites is something I'm looking into, along with redesigns of the mines in Tombstone and Ajo (you can see a bit of my testing in Ajo this update).

I try to schedule this so I have extra freetime on feature heavy updates, so wish me luck on creating another feature rich release! Thank you and goodnight.
