Apacies Alpha 0.6
The game has been in development for awhile, and I'm so glad to have a large feeling update like this again! There are 2 major changes this go around:
Overworld graphics got an overhaul. New mountain and ground sprites show a more (but still not perfect) representation of what the Sonoran desert looks like. the 2 large Route 86 and 89 are mostly done but are technically in the wrong places. They still look great and feel great when paired with the other big change. Overworld creatures fill up all route scenes. Shadow circles follow players around once you get close enough, I can expand how they react later on down the line, but for now each species has a sight range and speed. Different species of Apacies can be seen without encounters and can be sought out specifically without having to battle endlessly. It's also important to note that shadows only hold 1 Apacies each; but when more than 1 Apacies is close by when you start an encounter, they'll join in on the scene. As a player you can choose how many Apacies you want to battle by kiting them around! This little mechanic truly adds a lot to the gameplay so far, and I hope to make similar, fun, mechanics in the future to help this game stand out and remain engaging for hours.
There are a few smaller updates:
There were moves/strategies that all Apacies had access to no matter their level. This has been removed to get rid of the excess clutter of having 12 moves on every Apacies. Struggle has since made it's move to the default list, so that Apacies can always have access to at least 1 move. I have plans to make struggle even more hidden, but that should come with time.
Shiny Apacies have been in the works, but they are not implemented. If you have any ideas on how they should work talk to me; I'd love to hear different opinions.
And lastly bug fixes:
Saving is fully implemented for the features available! something is wrong with the "load" button on the startup menu, but you can enter the game and load from there. Your party, position and stats will all come back!
Apacies encounters have working turn orders. No longer must one suffer an attack while choosing an attack target. Enemies will wait for you to finish your attack before they do so. This also fixed a bug where you could "fight" 0 enemies after an encounter.
